
The first phase of The ADA Legacy Tour kicked off on Friday, July 25th, 2014 at the Abilities Expo. Lex Frieden, Director of the Independent Living Research Utilization Program and one of the chief architects of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), led a press conference to open the Tour.
Houston Mayor Annise Parker read a proclamation signed by Texas Governor Rick Perry proclaiming July 26, 2014 as ADA Awareness Day.
The ADA Legacy Tour exhibit featured The ADA Bus, an artifact from the 2006 Road to Freedom Tour.
Visitors to the Tour were able to try on free temporary tattoos with the ADA25 logo and/or the ADA25 slogan, "Disability rights ARE civil rights!"
