Recognizing that they don't have the votes for a full repeal of the Affordable Care Act, Republicans opted for a reconciliation bill that effectively picks the ACA apart, turning it into legislative Swiss cheese. At this point, it seems to provide more questions than answers about the future of health care in America.

The current debate over Medicaid has Anastasia Somoza thinking about the Willowbrook State School, the infamous Staten Island institution for people with developmental disabilities that New York state ordered shut down in 1983, the year Somoza was born.

Today I had the opportunity to share with Members of Congress what the impact of the American Health Care Act will be on people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This bill is barreling through Congress – and too little attention is being paid to the dire consequences of the Medicaid cuts on the lives of people with disabilities.
